One of the core functions for NeighborWorks® Home Resources is our home repair program. The housing stock of our service area is some of the oldest in New York State. Given the age of the houses, the severe winter weather that we experience, and the expense of upkeeping and updating the major systems of a house, we know that there is a steady need for rehabilitation.
Our home repair program helps low-income homeowners make repairs to their homes to correct a health or safety problem, or to address a code deficiency, or to extend the useful life of the home. Some examples of work that typically happens as part of our programs are roof replacement, heating system upgrade, and energy-efficient window installation.
This is not a complete list of the kind of home repairs that we do, and any work that may be done to your home will depend on your particular situation and needs.
We offer home repair loan and grant programs. The type of funding that we might be able to offer you will depend on the program guidelines and the availability of funding. Please contact us at 716-373-4100 for details on the home repair programs in your area.
NeighborWorks® Home Resources helps customers with complete construction management of your project from start to finish.
After reviewing your application and determining your eligibility to participate in one of our rehab programs, our staff Construction Specialist will complete an initial home inspection. Our Construction Specialist will determine the scope of work for your project based on the criteria of the particular program.
You do not have to search for contractors or have them prepare estimates for you. We do that for you. We work with a pool of approved contractors that have the necessary insurances and are familiar with our programs and our organization. After the initial inspection, specifications are sent to the contractors on our approved list, and the bidding process begins.
After awarding a bid to a contractor, we prepare the necessary documents for the work to begin. You then enter a contract with the contractor to have the work completed on your house.
We also pay the contractor and conduct inspections during the work on your home to assure that the work is being done correctly and according to the proper standards.
NeighborWorks® Home Resources can help you make your home safer and healthier.
